2024/25 Argentina Soybeans 36% Planted, up 16% for the Week
Author: Michael Cordonnier/Soybean & Corn Advisor, Inc.
Rainfall over the weekend in Argentina favored Buenos Aires, northern Cordoba, and central Santa Fe. The forecast is calling for rain this week across most of Argentina with the heaviest amounts in northern Argentina. Rainfall has been adequate to advance soybean planting, but not enough to fully recharge the soil moisture. Temperatures have been seasonal, so there has not been any prolonged periods of hot and dry weather. Soybean germination and stands are reported to be good, but additional rainfall would be welcomed as they move into the summer months.
Soybeans in Argentina were 35.8% planted as of late last week which represents an advance of 16% for the week. In the core production area, soybeans are 60-70% planted with 20-40% planted in southern Argentina and 0% planted in far northern Argentina. Approximately half of the first crop soybeans have been planted and some farmers are starting to plant their double-crop soybeans after the wheat is harvested.
The Buenos Aires Grain Exchange is estimating that Argentina will plant 18.6 million hectares of soybeans resulting in a production of 50.8 million tons. Below is the soybean planting progress in Argentina for November 20, 2024 from the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange.
